Climate change threatens to undo decades of progress in global health, and means climate sensitive diseases like malaria are becoming harder to predict and control.Changing weather, health emergencies and humanitarian crises are creating the perfect storm for diseases like malaria. The impacts of climate change are being felt now -- whether it's disruption to life-saving malaria programmes like mosquito net distribution or floodwater creating the perfect breeding ground for malaria-carrying mosquitoes.Increasing threats to the fight are making it harder to reach zero malaria in our lifetime.Children are most affected by malaria and are bearing the brunt of the impact that threats such as changing weather patterns are having on the disease. Yet children’s voices too often go unheard.Zero Malaria: Change the Story is a unique storytelling campaign highlighting the impact that climate change and other rising threats are having on malaria and efforts to end the disease. The campaign calls on leaders to recognise the impact that climate change and extreme weather events are having on malaria. It asks governments to urgently ensure that there is adequate funding to make sure health systems and malaria programmes are resilient in the face of changing climates and able to rapidly respond to extreme weather events.
